How to copy accesses SAP Logon

Today I will talk about the SAP access program called SAP Logon.  This program opens a window which contains one or several records, where each one is an entry to a different SAP server.

I will not spend time about the more basic options, as adding a new entry or edit an existing one.  I left this part to system administrators.  I want to focus on some tricks at user level.

Ussually you have an icon to launch it on your desktop.  The shortcut runs a program that should be in the path: "C\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplogon.exe".  Once we execute it, we will see a window with access to one or more SAP servers.

The information in each line on the SAP Logonis in a file called saplogon.ini.  You can find it in the path " C:\WINDOWS ".  You need to take care about it because you can erase your lines on the SAP Logon.

However with some caution, you can copy the entries from a SAP Logon to another computer very easily.  You need to have already SAP Logon on both computers.

• On the destination computer, make sure you have closed the SAP Logon window.
• On this computer, change the name to the file saplogon.ini form something like saplogon.iniold (in order to keep a back up of the previous configuration).
• Now copy the file saplogon.ini from your source computer to the target computer, by copying in a email, or in a USB stick, or sharing it on your intranet. 

It is a simple way to have the same access in differents computers.

Share your favorites of SAP

Your Favorites Menu in SAP

If you're somebody who likes to have everything organized, this post will interest you. During my more than 10 years of experience with SAP, I could see that is impossible to know all the options SAP, and little things like this can be very helpful to the user. You can add  transactions, create folders, ...., at the Favorites Menu, either right-click on the same menu favorites:

What not everyone knows or use it, it's that you can export your own menu favorites to a file that after can be imported into another machine or another client of SAP. We will use options Favorites / Download to PC to export my favorites to a file, and Favorites / Upload from PC to import it from the file to the new SAP. When you import, SAP will ask you a question about if you want to add the menu without changing the existing, or you prefer to mix it. 

It is a very useful tool, for example in the following situations: 

• If you want to have the same menu favorites in several machines (development, test, production, ....)
• To have a backup of your favorites
• If you want to share the same menu on multiple users.
• If you are in business process change, or you are destined to another subsidiary of the group, and you want to take your favorite menu with you.

Dictionary of SAP standard tables

Introduction

SAP uses tables to store information, such as the parameterization of the actual data.   The tables contain one or more key fields, and they relate to each other through common fields. Besides the standard tables can also create tables for their own use, which SAP always recommends that the name begins with the letter Z.

The fastest way to access tables is using transaction SE16 Display tables or SM30 Modifying tables (not recommended).    Once you went into a table,  we can choose the view to display the names of the fields or   the technical name of SAP, for it you will go to Settings / User Parameters...  and change the following option:
